Over the last 15 years, thousands of service personnel have transferred their money out of the MoD pension scheme. However, when a member of the armed forces retires, they receive one of the most generous pensions available in the UK. As such, moving a military pension is rarely advisable and many former and current service personnel have lost thousands as a result.
If you were persuaded to transfer your British Armed Forces pension to a private scheme you might have been mis-sold and we can help you to make a claim.
How would I know if my military pension was mis-sold?
Your pension might have been mis-sold if:
- You transferred your military pension to a SIPP, QROPS or another type of personal pension.
- You transferred out of your military pension in the last 15 years.
- You were either advised by a UK regulated adviser or transferred your pension to a UK based pension company (or both).
We can help you make a military pension claim if all the above apply, and:
- You have paperwork relating to the transfer (or at the very least, an account number for the pension which you transferred into).
- You are not bankrupt.
The impact of military pension mis-selling is significant
As a result of transferring their pensions, many service personnel have:
- Lost thousands of pounds from their pensions.
- Lost all the guarantees that came with their military pensions.
- Made unregulated, unsuitable, and potential fraudulent investments.
- Discovered that they cannot access their pension.
- Been hit with high fees and charges.
In total, we believe that up to 5,000 people could be affected by this scandal, and while each case is different, we believe that those involved in the mis-selling of military pensions could be owed hundreds of thousands of pounds.
